On May 2, 2018 the Governor's Mansion in Baton Rouge was the site for the annual Louisiana Small Business Awards. Each year the LA APEX Accelerator selects one of its clients to be the recipient of the LA APEX Accelerator Contractor of the Year. With over $18,000,000 in government contracts from 2004 through 2017, this year's recipient is Ms. Alvinette Teal with JESCO Environmental & Geotechnical Services, Inc. headquartered in Jennings, Louisiana.
As the business grew, JESCO became certified through the Hudson Initiative and won contracts with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality and the Department of Transportation and Development. With LA APEX Accelerator assistance and participation in the SBA 8(a) Program, JESCO received its first federal contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and has secured over $18 million in government contracts from 2004 through 2017.
Originally focused on underground storage tank private sector site investigation, risk assessment, and remediation of hydrocarbon contamination, JESCO services have grown to encompass environmental consulting, remediation, disaster debris management, and design-build for commercial, municipal and heavy construction.
JESCO's recent endeavors include conducting environmental studies and assessing impacts of the massive wildfires in California, and hurricane devastation in Puerto Rico.
